2000 Defender Extreme
Guys thinking about buying a 2000 Defender Extreme the one I found has done 146000 ks I need to get it from Newcastle to Karratha.
I am thinking I need to replace engine harness, change the clutch fork and injector seals before driving it back.
What do you think do they have other issues that I am unaware of?

Are any of those faults showing up on the vehicle?
Mine's done 190,000 on it's original harness, injector seals, and clutch.
I'd personally not do the injector seals as unless the sump is overfilling you may be more likely to damage something.
The clutch is a hard one to judge, I've heard of many clutches wearing out by 140k. I've got 190k on mine original clutch and gearbox, but I know I'm on borrowed time. The flywheel is knackered and needs replacing, so I'm waiting until something breaks to do the flywheel, clutch, and a rebuilt gearbox all at one. If you are going to crack the gearbox to get at the clutch fork, you might find some unwanted surprises in there, for example a knackered but still usable flywheel. You'd feel obliged to replace that whilst you were in there, given the cost of pulling the box... Then you'd most likely want to stick a new clutch in there, and then what about the box itself......
Personally I'd just take it easy and make sure you have RACV total cover.
Some other things that have made my Defender undriveable over the years.
1 - Contacts in the solenoid for the starter motor. Starter motor replacement is very expensive, but you can get replacement contacts that go inside the solenoid for a few bucks.
2 - Tyres - Might be worth sticking a new set of rubber on it.
3 - Change oils, and check for coolant leaks. (Who knows how it was maintained. If the coolant reservoir has any form of gunk in it, then I'd say there is trouble ahead, switching coolant types on a TD5 needs to be done carefully or else it's easy to bugger the cooling system expensively)
4 - Check for radiator water leaks - I've had to replace the radiator on mine at around 110,000ks. Not too expensive, but could have cooked the engine easily.

I dont know what the vehicle is like I can only rely on a friend to look at it for me.
I am just being over cautious with fixing potential problems as my nearest dealer is over 1000 ks away.
Just cant seem to find anything else anywhere at the moment
