heater fan cables 2003 defender
Hi All,
Recently the switch that controls the fan in my fender went stiff and stopped moving. I had not realized that the switch actually seems to control a cable that goes to the heater box. Looks like this cable has seized. BUT any idea what this cable controls? It seems to be hooked up to a flap of some sort, is that designed to switch off the ram air? On hot days I've always had some hot ram air blowing through the vents, is that normal, perhaps this flap needs adjustment.......

Hi,
I had similar problem once. There are two contacts for lo/hi speed fan when the flap is at full open position.
This made heat, smoke and the plastic melted and seized up the slider.
Rough and ready solution was clean up melted bit as best possible, free up the slider, and incorporate a 2-off-1 three position switch through the dash panel (I did snip the plastic lever off a bit to prevent inadvertent activation).
Years of trouble free operation!
Andy
