Hi,

no, this would be different to the force 9 axle as we would design it as a drop in for the 110 rear axle, the force 9 is to fit the 90 axle 'normal' diff pattern,

the puma 90 diffs and the 110 puma fronts are the same as the 'normal' diffs but the 110 rear is the P38 short housing type, as mentioned above I think it's this short pinion thats the main cause of the problem, ie pinion bearings too close together,

And LR obviously know all about the Puma diff failures,but are doing stuff all about it?

D2 have the rover diff, same as LR90, D1 and Defender front etc. They are stronger in the crownwheel and pinion support than the P38a Diff, but only 2 pinion, thats where they mostly fail - broken cross shafts.

Sals is the Rolls royce of rover factory fitted differentials, 4 pinion and HUGE and very strong in carrier bearing and pinion bearing design, basically a Dana 60 copy, with 24 spline axles instead of 31/5...:o

Doesn't a locker center fix the weaker internals?,D1 diff's are easy to find and cheap to buy also. Pat

Yes forget them, they are history !! Because first you must find a Forward control !!
They were a fantastically strong diff, as they used a third bearing, that was built onto the nose end of the pinion.

IMHO the half shafts still remained a weak point however.

Same as the 3rd bearing on the Ford 9", which stops the pinion walking off the crown wheel, effectively "pegged" from factory
