Thanks.
I ended up using a 'double nut' and removed all 4 studs, the rest was straight forward.
Now to research a re-map.

Fitted my "Alive Tuning" 4x4 inter cooler and the Front Runner centre muffler replacement pipe this weekend.
During our recent trip, it was pretty hot up north - intake air temps above 50 deg C. We had some major headwind - 30-40kph and with the roof top temp etc, we could hold 100-110kph most of the time, but water temps would sometime get to around 112 Deg C - then the ECU would cut fuel for a few seconds until it cooled down below 110 deg - I found I had to watch the Scangauge and back off a bit if the temps started to climb. I hope the inter cooler and exhaust will helps a little bit - just need a few degrees of cooling. Dealer says the cooling system is fine - and says it was the extreme heat and heavy loading.
It took only about an hour to fit the inter cooler and exhaust - like Drover says, just lever the support plate out - flexes quite easily. I had to trim a bit of the plastic support low down on the radiator to make the inter cooler fit, but other than when removing one of the inter cooler hose clamps - it was fitted at an angle that made using a screw driver impossible, it all went in easily.
Exhaust was really easy, every thing lined up. I can't tell the difference between the exhaust sound without the centre muffler.
I hope this all helps - just 5-10 degrees will make the difference.
I found that after I fitted my intercooler my water temp went up about 5 - 7 deg as it blocks more of the radiator. Its hard for me to tell however as I did add portals at the same time so it might just be pushing the bigger rubber and heavier rig thats doing it.
I was planning to contact Andrew from Alisport to see if his radiator will help reduce the temps.
Hey Iain,
Let me know what Andrew thinks, I could be interested in one his alloy radiators if it will keep things cooler.
Cheers
Grant
I'll see how it goes, but an Alisport radiator was the next thing. Including shipping they are around $1000, so if a group buy reduces the price a fair amount, I'll probably be in as well.
Pete from Bell Autos suggested I try the inter cooler first - I'll have to wait until it heats up a bit here to see if it has helped.
He also suggested the intercooler first for me also. There is a open fin and closed fin intercooler design,I wonder if the open fin type would work better than the closed fin type?. Pat
