That's definitely it, but why would a County need it? You've just got the usual full length rad where the TDi's have the narrower rad + intercooler, plus the aircon rad in front, haven't you?

Counties with A/C had them. Same panel as others, just moved forward to fit the condensor and fans.
As Kaa says. Introduced with the first 110s to allow aircon, and fitted to aircon vehicles since (and I think standardised on all some time after 2000. Note that you can fit aircon without it, but things are a bit tight, so it will not be fitted to all dealer installed aircon 110s (and of course all comments apply to the 90 as well).

My 94 V8 110 has this, it's an Aussie import. Funnily enough, in Japan they call this protruding grill the "Koala Nose" ! But I don't think it's unique to Australia - seems to be common to all ROW spec Defenders with aircon fitted.
My 95 MY 300Tdi has A/C fitted but no extended nose cone.
My 2000 TD5 has the extended nose cone.
Countys with AC had the extended nose cone. Counties and one-tens without AC had the flush-fitting nose cone. Note that the extended nose cone is fibreglass, the flush version is alloy.
All 200 and 300Tdis had the flush nose cone.
All TD5s I have seen had the extended nose cone - but I doubt any/many were sold without AC.
Pumas - as for TD5.
I don't know if the TD5 and puma version is glass or alloy.
If you have a bull bar,you may need to trim the lower inside flats on the uprights for clearance.
