Poms Undersized (the) Motor Again
So what do you think a TD5 powered, 6 speed gearboxed, TDCi (Puma) dashed / interiored Defender would be like? ;)
And sorry, no... The TDCi engine is a pile of hastily cobbled together EU emmissions compliance exercise.
However, The dash and interior are great......
The TDV6 engines are great, the TDCi is not...
As much as I love the vehicles, Im not convinced in any way shape or form that the "Puma" is a long term vehicle.
Pain Up My Arse
Best thing about my dad's PUMA is the ratios. Low range seems to be really nice and low, but that 6th gear is very pleasant at speeds. The 300,000 km TD5 it replaced seemed zingier (if that makes sense) and more willing, but wanted to conk out on the lower rev range more than the new truck.

i think wat he means is they feel more alive cos teh td5 likes to rev more then the puma,, pumas have nothen past not much more then 3000rpm
True re the interior, but I disagree re the engine. Sure there a good ones and bad ones but that can be said about any engine. This Ford engine is in all our work Transit vans, they are worked very hard and rarley give us a problem.
You can put Disco gears in the TD5 5 speed and this makes it comparable to the Puma 6 speed.
I still like the way the Puma delivers its power compared to the TD5, I sold my TD5 and not much after bought my Puma and the difference is huge (for the better). I am not bagging the TD5 as I like it as well.
