All the DC props I've seen have been fitted with the DC joint at the gearbox end.
Re fitting of the supplied flange, it would depend on how the bolt holes align on existing one.
What brand is the new one?
Bought this at the right price..
But -no instructions..............Doh
Not sure what end the D/C end connects to ?
Also it came with a flange assembly....does this need to be fitted or will it bolt straight up ?
I have a 50mm lift and have not had any problems but the shocks are standard length. I am about to fit 50mm longer front shocks and have been worried about the extra down travel increasing the pinion angle and causing bind.
Cheers
(I posted this on Friday night, but it must have been lost with the server problems..)

You will need to change the flange.
As said already, DC joint at transfer case end.
It is a BritPart to suit a L230 transfer case. Is this what the PUMA has ?
I have tried to measure the stud pattern on the T/C it seem to match, but my measurements could be a bit out as I have not removed the original shaft yet.
How much would I need to lift the front end to avoid the T/C oil running once the flange is removed ? Is it possible ?
Cheers
Yes the flange replaces the item on the t/c. Then the D/C shaft will only bolt up one way.
I assume pinion issues can be solved by slotting the front hubs, as with earlier models.
Let us know how it goes, as we all know Puma's have slightly different geometry & more sensitive with lifts. With the t/c being slightly lower, are f&r shafts the same length as earlier models? Wouldn't surprise me if they were slightly different. Your D/C shaft just may not be interchangable. Keep us posted.
