Bit of a numty question on a forum like this, but what does a break controller actually do...?
Reading the threads I assume it assist/aids with controlling the break force distribution on trailers fitted with electronic breaks? How and why is that required?
I've never towed anything other than offroad trailers, so complete novice on the topic.:eek:
Not a numpty question at all.. when a trailer weighs over 750kgs by law the trailer has to have it's own braking system (to prevent the weight of the trailer/caravan etc from pushing into the car when you brake).. a brake controller operates the brakes on the trailer.. so when you brake the brake controller brakes the trailer at the same time.. :) Oh and I mounted mine on the front of the caddy.. :)Quote:

Pretty used to over-run/mechanical break systems as used on heavier off-road trailers, but I can imagine the benefits of an independant electronic breaking system...

Hi Sue, what sort of brake controler do you have?
I have a prodige and I can't stop my LED brake lights on the 90 from flashing,
when I hook up the camper.
