I just don't understand the 70 series Landcruiser, less than 15/km litre gutless considering engine size and the utes rev 2K at 80 km/h. The troopie version gearing is better about the same on highway as a 2.4 Puma. However driving them they feel that the centre of gravity is just to high, giving strange handling characteristics. Prados just seem to rattle to bits, not as robust as their donor vehicle the Rolux and have you considered the price of these things. I feel totally burgered by driving a rolux , cart springs at the back and just lets not forget about the seats.

Well i have the 130 now, i gota say after a 1000km drive home i am very impressed with the little 2.4, in standard form at almost all speeds it leaves my 1kz prado for dead and makes the TDI seem like a complete dog, pulling up the hills between the gold coast and ballina in 6th gear was a walk in the park for it, out of all the 2.4s i have driven so far this one seems to go the best.

fastest i got it going was about 125, handles it well but the XZLs and wind noise was very loud. found some water leaks already, in the floor in the rear corners of the cab, theres nothing sealing them, you can see light, good old defender fit and finish

I have a Defender 130 HCPU, on order since July and due for delivery next Jan.
I thought I was getting a 2.4 litre motor. The dealer was not aware of any changes to engine specs until I enquired after reading the post on AULRO.
They made some calls and confirmed the motor will be 2.2 and the build changeover is happening this month Sept. Very dissapointing since the Puma 2.4 was a critical factor in my decision the order.

What to do? Suck it and see-maybe it wont be too bad- or do I cancel my order. Ill follow the discussion and try and make an informed gamble
