Ideas to setup a 130 HCPU for travel

I hope that was tongue in cheek. looks like a fully kitted out defender to me :D

any reason why most of you are putting the fridge up the front of canopy?

I like the idea from Landieman where it just slides out the back. The 60l ARB fridge is lower and fatter than other fridges I have seen so should work pretty well over the tailgate without the need for a drop down slide. A fatter and not so deep fridge should also make finding things easier.

We did consider the idea of a slide on camper type of setup but at the end of the day we still prefer sleeping in the tent on the ground where possible. The rooftop will just be from roadside camping or places where the ground is not suitable.

We used this for longer term storage items like spares, empty jerries, dive gear etc. The "wings" on each side to the rear of the spare tyres could be lifted to access more storage space at the sides. Under the one on the left was the auxiliary battery. The top surface was carpeted with timber edges and straps that limited the movement of stuff staked in the back while driving.

The tyres were relatively thin so could fit OK in the position shown. Positioning them here meant the weight was low (better than on the roof) as well as kept the weight forward which was an advantage because we towed a camper trailer. It took a bit of muscle to get them out but fortunately we didn't have to do it very often.

The sliding windows at the rear of the cab were used to access the shelves at the front. This worked really well as the kids could keep their stuff up out of the way as well as guide book etc but could still access it whilst on the road.

How is your setup attached the the tub? Does it just sit there or have you bolted it on?

We used to have the fridge at the rear tub but as I am I dwarf I found it hard to get in the fridge, the drop down makes it alot better.

I am thinking the fridge would be on the floor of the tub.

from the pics you have posted it looks like even with the fridge down it is above the wheel arch which would be higher than the floor of the tub. Or does it go down further.

That is one nice looking 130 you have there juddy!

We have a drop down fridge, slide, as we found the normal slide in the rear tub, too high....

His "new" 130 is set up just about the same as his "old" 130:D

Is there any other colour? We had to wait 4 months for it but it was worth it.

Yes you don't get to see many RED 130's we are a special bunch aren't we:D

ours is fire engine red not a standard LR colour, a CFA colour;)

Remember i did not start this thread, i only offered my comments, and pictures as this was a 130 HCPU related thread, ( not a 130 Tray back thread ) "so get ya boots on and walk up yonda hill" :D

1 Its not new its a year and a half old now.
2 No its not the same as the old 130 :twisted:

You dont see many Red 130's, and yours does look very good ( its fire engine red so that helps ). And you dont see many silver 130's or come to think of it black ones......

jasonedu 130 is very rare never seen a 130 Puma in that colure.
