My wifes defender 130 TD5 gives a constant 10lts/100km all the time, around town and in the bush. For us oldies that about 28miles/gallon.
I'm getting ~11.5/100 out of mine but it's a Tdi300.
However at work I drive a Hilux that returns roughly the same, mate has one of the new Navaras for work and comments that he can't get anywhere near the stated 10/100 from it (2.5litre model)

Pushing my 300Tdi as hard as I dare at 120kmh (that's a real 100kmh due to the speedo accuracy) I average 9.5 on a trip up to Port Macquarie (425kms). Not heavily laden. That's also taking into account the 5% inaccuracy of the odometer. Around the burbs just cruising I think it's about the same. I can't figure it Martyn.:) Thanks Tye, I always like to remember what it was in m/g.
