I too change the spring recently and this combined with my mechnaic noticing that the clutch was loose has made the clutch a joy to drive with

This would be the first mod I would do to any defender with a heavy clutch.

I just did this mod today. What a difference it makes! "sdt463" you must be one small strong person to do with pliers

Ended up wedging the peddle down, then using an big old Flathead screwdriver with a wedge cut out of the end to get enough leverage to put the spring in.

RobD, where did you get the parts from, if I may ask...? Looking to get them and do the mod on mine as well, as the wife has decided to give up the Grand Vitara "town car", and drive the Defender full-time...

    Cheers!

These guys are pretty good with prices and prompt
To do it properly you need to order the 2 round plastic bushes and the plastic guide that goes in the slot on the pedal.
And with all 3 in place it is a bugger to fit the spring.
But worth it knowing it is done right.
