mmmm, used the mirror and that is how i saw it in the first place. The back of the head is clean and dry. I saw the oil on the side of the block and traced it up to the back right corner of the head. Its not above the line of the head. What else can it be. I bloody hope your right,lol.
So I ended up ordering the new head from Turners. Its an AMC probably the same as item 120749563303 on fleabay, but I got it with valves, gasket and fitting kit (includes bolts etc) + 10 lash adjusters shipped to Sydney from the UK for about $2900 once I got slogged with GST and duties.
I ordered it on thursday about midday and it was at customs in Sydney on sunday morning! Couldn't believe it. Then it took till tuesday to get across the bridge to Brookvale!
So tomorrow is the day of reckoning, it has been fitted and all is well I'm told. Not yet sure what the total cost of this latest chapter is yet - but I'm afraid...
I also found out that only 2 glow plugs were working - wondered why it was a bit lazy to start on colder mornings - 100% improvement on the glow plug front!
I'm also going back to a straight through pipe and ditching the centre exhaust silencer again, so whatever it costs - at least the the old girl should have a lot more poke and a great exhaust note to make me smile about her again.
