It must be your mates RATEL coming out ( radiotelephone language spoken on the radio) from his former years, I have done heaps of sailing, coastal cruising, racing and a passage to NZ and it is only old ex military guys that speak like that.

Great thread for all Puma owners deciding on new tyres & rims :):D
My only problem is to convince the wife what I want is the best.
We have all rims already ;)We have the dual finish alloys that our Puma came with (which the wife loves)
We have a set of 0mm offset speedy wheels from our past 130 pick up. & a set of -25mm Dynamic rims we had fitted to a past disco.
So as you can see, I have all the basis covered rim wise (just need to have the rims blasted & repainted if I go this way)
But the wife is adamant we paid good money for those pretty looking alloys, we are going to use them ;)
The -25mm dynamic rims have some 33"x12.5" mtr's on them at the moment. I did fit them to have a look & they do look tough, but a quick trip soon proved the 12.5" wide is way to wide for a standard flare :p
So the dilemma continues :o;)

Turning circle I initially thought was slightly worse but after trying a few 3-point turns in very familiar territory, I think it's the same as it always was.....that is to say, it's still that of a large, fully-laden oil tanker.
The wheels are quieter than I thought they'd be although they make more noise in the wet than the General Grabbers did. I also noticed that the driver and passenger doors are going to get a hiding from anything coming up off the front tyres, espcially toward the sides, through the gap between side step and wheel arch flare.
Mudflaps or larger flares? While I love getting some awesome looking pinstripes, I don't want to ruin the paintwork unnecessarily with stone chips....or get loads of mud coming inside the windows!

Wheels and tyres are well balanced and has the right look for the Fender, not over done but still tough.

Hi Bobby, Gusthedog (prev owner of my Def) here on AULRO solved the problem by fitting some insertion rubber between the flare & step. Solves 90% of the mud & stone chip issue, As you see from pic some still gets on the step probably from the back wheel (you could do the same on the back)Quote:

Im in the process of Fabricating some new Sliders / steps that will be 100mm higher but will still be using Pricey's invention

I should invest in some front mudflaps too...
I run -4mm offset Performance Alloy rims with 255x85 BFG MTs on my 110, standard mud-flaps.
Cant say Ive ever notice stone chips to be a problem, but road crud (mud & water particularly) flying up into the car when the window is open is a bit of a problem:p
I suppose if thats the worst of my worries I should be happy!

I s that a TJM bar? It looks like it is tilted slightly forward? Is that to clear the light guards?
I am in the market for a bullbar and also have light guards which I would like to keep.

Tomo - the bullbar is an Opposite Lock one. I got Gordon down in OL Rockdale to fit it. He said the ARB bars, which is what I had my eye on, were far too close to the bodywork.
Price was about the same - maybe even a bit cheaper.
Dullbird.....yes I know.....but sliders will have to wait until I've trashed the stepboards. So many toys, the list just keeps getting longer! Tinted windows next...and front mudflaps.
