It's a Blackvue DR400G HD blackbox car recorder, it sticks to the windshield in front of the mirror. Records constantly while key is on.

As a new land rover owner I was unaware of this until I read this thread yesterday. So today I was out with my girl and I saw another bloke in a defender, waved and got one back. Makes you smile. I then had to explain this my gal, she thought it was pretty cool.

The last thing every dealer should say just before you climb into your new landy is to be sure and wave to EVERY defender that you pass!!!

I wave at all LRs and I don't even drive one at the moment.

The kind of response I get varies with the location and its a wide spectrum:

- Rangie/ Disco driver in Eastern Suburbs/ Lower North Shore Sydney = surprised look . . . .who is this demented freak and why is he waving at me?

- Defender driver out in the country = waves back , stops , shakes hands, has time to have a cup of tea and a biscuit and a bit of a yarn

Good to stumble onto this thread as it is something that I love about driving a Land-Rover. Pretty much always get a wave from Series drivers, sometimes get a wave from Defender drivers, can't remember if I have had a wave from a Disco or Rangie driver. Not sure if they know they are part of the club.

A good friend of mine drives a kombie and the wave is also passed on between Volkswagen drivers.

It seems alive and well around Melb today, and even half way between Benella/Wang too
