You need a AULRO decal on the windscreen of the HiLux!

My other car is a 1967 Austin Healey and I've noticed that all classic car drivers tend to wave at each other regardless of the car they're driving. I've always had a tendency to be enormously enthusiastic about it - giving a hearty wave with my arm right up above the windscreen (roof down) or a big thumbs up to a particularly well-restored vehicle.
I was so happy that Defender owners wave at each other that in my first few trips I completely forgot about the wind deflectors on the driver door and in repeated wave attempts that have resulted in my hand hitting the deflector at pace, I've managed to really weaken one of the connectors for it and have lost plenty of knuckle skin too.
I do love the wave....so much is said between drivers during that moment.
Specifically for me, it's a silent doffing of one's cap....a recognition of another person's good taste, appreciation for character, tradition, wet feet and a love of fun overcoming the sensible accountant residing inside them.
It's also a validation of one's decision to buy and an overwhelming appreciation that as long as there are plenty of other Defenders on the road, there'll always be spare parts somewhere and a forum full of people to ask questions and seek advice.
:D
Got a wave from a sweet looking 130 Puma on Friday morning near the Oak at Hexam.
Big wheels, lifted suspension, custom alloy rear canopy - looked just like Cal415's but it was way to clean :wasntme:
Looked nice Mick :BigThumb:
We were out briefly today, it's not good driving in semi cyclonic weather, in RED 130 and the only defender we saw waved back at us:D I usually get around 95%+ that wave back.
Except when comming back from Beauy the other day a gentleman in a series 3 looked shocked that I waved from mine:confused::)
Mrs hh:angel:
I wave every time i see one, the missus gives me a serve when the other defender is in the left hand lane of a 4 lane highway. I tell her it is the code!
Got a cool thumbs up from a svx on the bruce hwy near bribie island last weekend.
I'm a waver, my wife doesn't understand, she is confused as to why I get so excited.
The kids are in the habit of spotting other Deefers, especially my young bloke, and the girls are even pointing out Discos and RR's
Question, is there a thread on here for if you see someone in a particular place, that you can post it, that way they can say hey yeah that was me you saw today. That would be cool :)

Yep had the roof top tent. I was in green td5.
I got a 100% hit rate yesterday coming back from down south.
3 defenders and 3 waves reciprocated.
If it was anybody from here, I was in the bronze defender waving like a loon. I'm new to this and am a little enthusiastic!
