Wow what a discussion... I think I'll maintain my slightly snobby rule of only waving at Disco's when waved at... otherwise my arm will get tired :P

It's really quite complicated for simple wave.
I give the 'Defender' wave, when driving my Defender to people in other Defenders.
I give the 'Landy' wave to other Land Rover drivers when driving my Defender.
I give the 4x4 wave to people in their four wheel drives (including Land Rovers and Defenders) when I'm driving either my work ute, or wife's Patrol.
And when driving down long country roads in the middle of nowhere, I wave to anyone.
So just picked up my defender and saw a grey defender near capabala road who waved and I returned so if that was you thank you sir for my first landy wave
Why only Defenders deserve 'the wave'.

Had a new D4 in apretty metallic red with flash black wheels wave to me on Friday !
Took me by surprise !
I wave at every defender i pass. Sometimes you get a little acknowledgement wave and other times you get a big enthusiastic wave. so far have only had 1 defender not wave.
I probably confused yet another defender driver today (in Canberra) by giving him a big grin and thumbs up at the traffic lights, from our black subaru forester :)
Only a fortnight to go and I will be in my own defer :D
I waved to several defender drivers on the weekend and all bar one waved back. The defender wave will never go away.
It went to the same place the apostrophe did... ;)
