Where's the Defender wave gone?

I can concur that BMW riders tend to also wave at each other.. It is particularly common on the R series boxer engine bikes or the older k's (because only a collector/aficionado would ride one I guess). I suspect that the same odd-ball (practical) design of the defender also blends well with the only mainstream bike that still rides with a boxer.. paralever.. etc etc.. (I deliberately exclude urals and the chinese copies of BMW bikes).

Just done 1200+ks from Melbourne to N.E. Victoria & return, & never saw even one Defender to wave to?!

The Navigator is always keen to drive the Defender and complains that I monopolize it.
And yes, I do wave, but don't get much response from Discovery drivers.

Driving around on the weekend I passed 3 or 4 series land rovers here in Mackay!! Was very surprised. I did wave to each.

Was there something series like going on here that I've missed out on???

I drive 1 or 2 days every week between Gold Coast and Byron Bay. I would have to say 90% of the defenders i see wave. Its generally only the Brand new ones that dont wave. Bloody Hipsters.

On another note i see a yellow 110 extreme within a couple kms of Surfers Paradise a few times a week. Is that anyone on the Forum?

I thought Defender drivers had stopped the wave too, well for a while until I remembered I had borrowed mum's car.
Also you will be shocked and stunned at this: but I met someone once who bought a defender and didn't like it! He did not wave, in fact he pulled faces at passing defenders. He was a brick layer and towed about 8 ton of brickies tools etc but expected 400 hp and cruising at 120 KPH.
