Driving up Bells Line of Road (North Richmond) this afternoon looking at the endless column of east bound Easter traffic coming down the mountain and low and behold a new 110 Defender waves at us (in our ‘96 300Tdi Defender).
So we waved back a little surprised.
    Cheers

It wasn't me but it is good that the newies are getting the drift!

I took the Kelvinator for a drive today from Mt Wilson to Bell and back . She deserved an outing . It was noisy, hands-on and fun! No other Defenders spotted. I have a neighbour who wants to buy it. Even if the money is good and I sell it will be a reluctant sale.

I wasn’t sure if you had sold the old defender good to see you haven’t. No don’t sell it, you will regret it for ever!

I was hoping that no one would say that.

The S M E G will be taken for a dirt road trip on familiar tracks from the Zig Zag to Newnes this week so I can suss out some the of the off road algorithms. Life was simple once upon a time.

So the neighbor who is interested in buying the old one...the price is right but he just wants it to tow stuff for work. Not sure that is her destiny.

The S M E G impressed on the beaten and familiar tracks. Tracks that I first drove in the Disco and then the old Defender. Driven in low range, with raised suspension, appropriate off road modes, manual gear selection and no bashing of the skull on the B pillar. The low range first down hill crawl was glacially impressive!

So traditionalists if when you are driving your old Defender and you see a new Defender.....WAVE! They are worthy of the title.

Well there you go! Stopped at a T intersection this morning on my way into town for a coffee and a new dark grey 110 passed, not a wave but a nod so I waved back and he smiled. Two in a week now…

Waved at a grey/black roof 110 east bound on Durham St in Bathurst around 11am today. Not sure if he noticed us on the other side of the road in our Td5 Ute.

Exchanged waves (and grins) with another freshly minted L663 Defender as we passed it heading north on the M1 just past the Wahroonga junction.

Parked at Bunnings Alexandria exchanged pleasantries as we strolled to the entrance with the owner of a 110 300Tdi tray back. Among the topics of conversation were the issue of Defender waves and those from (or not) the L663 We agreed that it should be compulsory. He also owns a couple of Series 2 Land Rovers.
