    Grab handle location

OK so the little lady is.. not tall, and needs a handle to haul herself up into the Landy.

I suppose I'll go to a wrecker and find something suitable easily enough. and drill holes for it in the metal "gutter" above the door.

The thing is - for those who've done the same...

WHERE did you mount it? Toward the front, the back, or dead in the middle of space above the door?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I have always tought people to put their left leg in first, that way they swing in. So I would go with the front-ish, maybe between the front and midle.

Well there is the handle that land rover put on the defender dash to help you pull your self in. She could use that.

My wife is a short arse and she has no problem getting on the 90 or 110.

The other option is to get a disco 1 roof handle and put it above the door on the defender. Can be found on eBay pretty cheap

I had a go with a 2nd hand Disco grab rail that I got off eBay or something.

See this thread for more details, and a few others who have done it too:

Assuming you are talking about the passenger side, my grab handle is in the middle though I didn't use it for getting in, it is for rough roads. I use the one on the dash like Ali suggests.

If you are talking about the drivers side, we have on on the side of the windscreen mounted where the existing holes are.

I'm married so this doesn't apply anymore ... but if I was single and dating, I'd not want a grab handle - helping a young lady into the seat of a tall LR is all part of the courting process - specially when you're pushing from underneath!

She doesnt like the dash handle its something to pull herself up into it she wants and an above door (pax side) handle is what I'm looking at. Justtrying to figure ideal positioning.

Why would a Disco handle be any better than a handle from some jap fourby at a local wreckers? A handle is a handle is it not?

Yeah your right you smart ****

But most people put in disco ones as we know where to get the easily. And they are Land Rover

But if you know you need to get a handle and she does not like the one on the dash. The only other place is on the top above the door
So my question to you is what is the point of this thread when you already know what to do.

You should be searching the forum as this has been covered many times

Thanks for your insight Ali but I'm prefectly aware of how to do a search. I also stated in the OP that I as going to put one above the door and it was just the fore and aft position that I was trying to work out.

WHERE did you mount it? Toward the front, the back, or dead in the middle of space above the door?
    Cheers.
