Breakfast of champions, Jerry. Lovely set-up mate, well done.
Thanks Drover, I'll take it off this weekend as I've ordered the Mulgo gas strut and will see if there's room for a shelf. I might check the dimensions of the dual fuel stove too so I can try to minimise the shelf size.
Good work gents...always nice to see and hear so many good ideas and different solutions to our need for convenience!
Do you have a rear wiper? there is a mod to put the intermittent relay on the rear wiper, I changed my front one to the programmable one so have the old intermittent one to put in the back I plan to do it but not until I need to take the back door card off, I think there is a wire needs moved on the relay for it to work but could be a good mod if you have the back off anyway, if you have a wiper that is :)
My Bush Kettle goes back in it's cardboard box and I haven't noticed any smell from it. Mind you after bush camping for a few days everything smells of smoke anyway.....
I made a fold down shelf for the rear door of my defender years ago, I'll have to take a picture & post it. I saw someone selling the shelves and based mine on their design.
A piece of 12mm ply covered with marine carpet, plastic hinges from a boat shop, ute cover elastic loops to hold it up when not in use and some nylon webbing.
I had to take the door card off to work out where I could place the screws so that had something other than the door card to screw into but otherwise it was straightforward.

Has anyone seen or tried the Royce Rimfire kettles?
I hadn't heard of them but just looked them up on the net.
Looks OK and they come in several sizes whereas most of the others there's just one size.
My original Bush Kettle is over 10 years old now and I'd probably buy another one if I lost it. Mind you I have an original in the plywood box with the mugs, tea/sugar/coffee containers etc. that I picked up at a trash & treasure market a while back.
It would be good to get feedback from someone who has used the Rimfire before buying ....

Here are a few pics of the 'shelf' on my Defender rear door.
I was worried about heat from the stove melting the vinyl on the door card but haven't had any problems. I use an occy strap to hold the door firmly open so it doesn't move while I'm having a brew.
It doesn't restrict access to the rear of the vehicle too much.

It folds up neatly out of the way.

12mm exterior grade ply covered with marine carpet. Plastic hinges from a boat shop, tarp ties and buttons they latch over from.....can't remember, nylon webbing from Bunnings.
Much bigger and it's in the way, any smaller and it's probably not much use.
