Flaps did you buy Alko Hubs? if so and they are the land rover ones you do need to knock the studs out and put in the 9/16's or what ever it is cant remember whether they were the short ones or the longer ones but Im sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
but whether you have steels or alloy the thread will still be the same :) unless your thinking of putting steels on to a non land rover hub
No you didn't get screwed in the butt, you didn't do your research.... don't blame them cos you own a pommie vehicle and want the alloy wheel nuts to fit.
Really im going to have a look at some steelies tomorrow i hope they fit. Does any one have steelies and can measure what sized hole they have. The thread i got is m14 i think the ones on my defender are m16 or m18. 9/16 is what i got
yea i got screw i went there to martins trailer parts and got them to specially make them up to fit my wagon how is that not getting screwed. i didnt get them off a shelf and payed extra cause it is a pommie vehicle

I have just had these fitted to my trailer they do not do the right size studs for the Land Rover if you have Land Rover Hubs from Alko you have to knock out the studs drill out the wholes and knock in the studs that are the correct size.

so if they made them up for you especially how is it your problem? they got it wrong! unless of course you specified the wrong size..I would buy the correct studs take them back and ask them to rectify it with the studs you supply.
if you have the wrong size studs for alloy you will have the wrong size for steel I'm sure, the studs are the same size. they may just vary possibly in length due to the taper on the alloy nut but if that I'm not even sure about that because the alloy wheel is made to encompass the taper
Did you bother to tell them that landrover don't use the same size as toyota???
M16 for metric Defender. If I remember next time I pull a wheel of the Kimberly I'll see if the hubs have a makers mark on them as they are a direct stud match to the Defender.Quote:

Mate the bloke i talked to at the store said that the steelies and alloys are a different sized stud and that he was going to supply the one that fit an alloy rim. So thats what
cheers dull bird u have been really helpfully ill try finding some studs we have a land rover mechanic around the corner so ill try there tomorrow.
The fella at your store is full of ****, they are the same (M16), the alloys also locate on a centre spigot, not sure if you knew that, if they don't it will break studs and you'll lose wheels eventually, the nuts are just there to hold the wheels on and provide the transfer of torque.
If the person setting up your wheel and hub combo isn't experienced with LR then you'll have to do the research, its not cheap to set them up properly, a collar needs to be made up to locate the wheel, and then the correct studs fitted, the hub manufacturers (is your fella a supplier or manufacturer? if he's a supplier, then I've got $50 they're ALKO and come with Toyota studs) will only supply them with 'standard' studs, this will be what you have and it is up to the trailer place (unless they only sell over the counter) to change them and make the collars up. Will be big dollars, but then so will be watching your camper bite the dust when it throws a wheel.
Sorry to put it so bluntly but i'm just giving you the facts, we do hub conversions frequently. If you don't want to listen then i'll happily not waste any more of my life on you.
