I asked a mate of mine who has the big ones on his Defender.He said the same about visibility and reflections on the windows, especially if they are tinted. The good point though was that he said they do work really well.

I personally prefer the look of the thinner low profile Climair ones as they look better in my opinion, the big ones look a bit naff.

My window are tinted, so I didn't want to impede on the visibility any further, I just need to find someone close to me who has them so I can check them out, as I love driving with my windows down but the noise and wind in the Defender drive me Insane:wacko:

Of course you could always just buy a Defender with vents under the windscreen. Open those and wind isn't a problem:).

Are you saying that's a cheaper option ? :p

I had the really big ones but one of them came off on the freeway the other week and instead of fixing it I decided to get a set of the lower profile ones in black. Ordered them from landrovertuning.com.au

The reason for not replacing the really large one is because everytime I try to lean out of the window I bump my forehead on it....and because the swirls from endless times cleaning it have reduced its clarity and I can't see the mirror as well as I'd like.

They should be here in time for the weekend's tinkering.

Mine were the full sized ones that came with my Defender when I purchased it new. The rain and dust would build up on the inside while driving making visibility difficult, and looking at the LHS mirror, it was almost impossible to see clearly. I ended up taking the band saw to both of them, and made them smaller. Now they are about 100mm top and front. Can see the mirrors, and still get a good breeze when the windows are down, but no rain if they are slightly down. Any thing I would do differently would get tinted ones in the future.
