Cartech was the vehicle processing company who received the cars direct from the ship. Sydney cars were done at Enfield.
They don't appear to exist anymore. Google brings up another company in Vic.

Prixcar took over their work a few years ago:

Just bought one of these 100% original, but missing tools, was sitting in a back yard with moss growing in the joints and grass up to the windows. A little rust in the firewall floor pan but a little TLC and a full resto and it will be as new. Found a guy that will replicate the decals I work away (FIFO) so need to sort a time out for him to photograph and measure, after Xmas I suppose, if anyone is interested I could get multiple sets made...Joe

Joe, I received this information on the tools for the Tanami from LRA. They have stock but the prices are stupid.
The shovel is available at Bunnings

    AYG8121 Axe - it is a Trojan P/N 118169

    AYG8127 Pick - it is a Trojan 121/002 5lb

    AYG8124 Shovel Round Nose - Cyclone 639227

AYG8128 Pick Handle Grade A Wood - Australian Spotted Gum Preferred.

Last Cyclone shovel I got was from Mitre 10, they were more expensive than Bunnings so I got them to match & knock off 10%
Probably worth checking around with the other tools as well.

I fitted a mattock to the Tanami as I found that more useful than a pickaxe.
The Axe head is older than me but I had to fit a new handle.
The shovel is a T-handled one that came from Aussie Disposals 14 years ago, dated about 1953 from memory.

Big thank you to Presto I now have the seed guard for the Tanami.
All I need to find is the pick and axe and it will be back to original spec.

A bloke I used to work for bought a tanami Ute was second hand was setup as a prospecting vehicle with lockers twin 100ltr saddle tanks full rops cage 200ltr water tank 2 spares on the roof and one on the bonnet massive wooden floor tray with hard top canopy with canvas sides, people really got out of the way when you were driving it around Perth. But it counts as one less tanami as his daughter rolled it out the wheat belt and wrote it off

Do you have any photos of this tanami ute? Redbook only lists the tanami as a wagon.

I may do, I think I have a photo of when we had the cherry picker mounted on it, but it definitely had tanami on the doors, and it was the only one I ever saw, that was not a wagon
