With the tow rating and quality of chassis, IMO, to be able to do the work properly and SAFETLY, AND have a decent rebuild life (min 600,000km) You need some power and some DISPLACEMNT

not something stupid like a 6bt cummins...but something in say 3.2-3.5 and 500nm. Of coarse this means a new gearbox and axles...alxes should be the same centers front and rear, fab'd housings. 30 spline MIN, 80 series size cvs...wider bearing spacing

    etc

    etc

    etc

    etc

McIntosh make a damped (car proof) valve amp but it costs about the same as the defender.

The best thing with the Defender is the ease of modification. Why not just fit the engine, gearbox, axles etc of your choice?

With this themed thread popping up every few weeks one wonders if the amount of energy that is put into moaning about the latest from LR was put into actually building something that suits an individuals purpose we all might have something more interesting to read. (This is not directed at you Uninformed, but to the greater AULRO community).

    Cheers,

    Tim
