Thread: Defender brake discs - OEM or DBA?

I have older DBA slotted discs which are based on Brembo cores (087S, 088S ?) and they are excellent, not sure if the newer ones are DBA castings or not but I have good experience with DBA castings years ago on race cars and I'd have no hesitation ordering DBA every time.

If/when I need to renew the discs I'll use DBA slotted again.

I wouldn't use cross drilled discs, too greater chance of cracks, slots are fine and IMO worth it if you hammer or tow and heavily use brakes, although I doubt T3 discs are worth it unless you really need bling or really, really hammer down mountain passes, but if the $ aren't much different between T3 and T2, ie, they are the same core, just different slotting......

I also run DBA, they have been good. Dont bother with cross drilled

I have DBA slotted and drilled rears - they came with the axle.

No complaints - except for the mud fills the cross drilling.

I will be getting DBA slotted for the next ones.

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards the HD ones, I'm not too interested in the "bling" factor

Recently was advised by a Brake Specialist that RDA Rotors are currently producing a better product than DBA in slotted rotors to suit Landrover

As far as I'm aware, RDA only source, don't make any of their rotors ?

Having said that, my old DBA's are actually Brembo's and have been bloody good. Not sure if this is still the case with DBA or they cast their Land Rover ones here now ?

I recently put a set of DBA T2's on my D2. I couldn't tell you where the castings were made - some models are done in china and others in AUS, but I understand the final machining is all done in AUS. For the D2 discs there was a two-three week lead time as they are machined to order- id guess the defender rotors would be similar.

Regardless of where the cores are from the discs are beautifully made, and perform very well ( I'm using LR genuine pads with mine). I would buy them again without hesitation.

I had EBC's on the D1,DBA's on the L322 and found both excellent,as mentioned above the machine work and fit is A1. Pat
