Front runner roof rack

I have the full length front runner, expedition one. it is 2.8m long and weighs in at 45kg according to the spec, it is only the half expedition so it is flat at the back for the RTT.

Putting it on was a mission, I winched it to the top of the underside of my my car port and drove in under it then lowered it on, only to find out that my car port was lower at one end and I could not reverse out, ( bad planning) I had to unbolt the roof of my car port at one end and jack it up to get the car out. I have to take the rack off again today actually as the deefer goes in to get some corrosion fixed on the roof next to the alpine windows tomorrow. I will be jacking the car port up again today but will try and keep the new height to make it easier to take on and off.

I think me being 5'7" tall does not help and you would need 2 people over 6' to put it on successfully I think..

i got the 2.2m front runner ( ex Mulgo ) on my 110 Puma...just long enough to have an OZtent RV4 on there. i decided on this shorter length instead of 2.8 because the front roof corners on the 110 are a weak point.. mine had lifted even without a rack on it... i am using the shorter legs ( #6) for the rack to keep overall height down, so i am still able to get into 2.1m height carparks

I probably should have got the none expedition one, but I can still get into 2.3m carparks, and through the maccas drive in :-)

They are easy to fit, you just need:~
1. A tree of suitable height and strength.
2. Hand winch, snatch block and some harness loopy things.
3. Cubby house to winch from (out of shot rhs).
4. Child to ride on rack to ensure it's even. Though we had an incident (leg fell through gap) which now means no further volunteers.

I don't have any trees I can use, but same principle, drive in, fit the straps, unbolt, tighten the straps and drive out.

This is ok to get it on and off once it is already on, to get it off the ground the first time I had to use ropes, no height for a flash pulley system :p
