The best I ever got in my now gone Puma was 520km and that was being very easy on her (90 kph) as the service station we had planned to fuel at had long closed. It seems anything over 100kph is an expensive drive.

in our 300tdi when i was on my L's i got 8.5L/100km if i sit on around 100km/h (aka green P's) i got around 10L/100km but dad said he use to get around 11L/100km. I think they say in the 4x4 mags that is is around 11.5L/100km
The engine should free up as you put more kms on it. The fuel economy should get better and I suspect that the claims of less than 10lt/100km are under very favourable conditions, too high a speed or a head wind will knock the figures about.
Drive at a safe speed at or below the speed limit, fill the tank when the fuel light comes on. Don't get involved with setting internet fuel economy records and enjoy your vehicle.
My SVX fully trip loaded (roof rack with AusTent, 2nd spare, chain saw fuel on it. And all the other stuff we need and lots we don't) running 285x75/16, bull bar winch, storage drawers etc.....can get 10.5 to 11.5 litre/100k if you happy to sit on 90 to 100k's/hour.
Just got back from Vic High Country. On the way down trying to make up some lost time, sittng on 120k's all the way and got 14.5L/100k.
Way home, taking it slower we got 11.5l/100.
The funny thing is on the tracks 2nd and 3rd gear, about 30km/h I get as good consumption as on the highway...go figure

Fuel consumption seems a bit on the high side.
We completed a round trip from Sydney to Broken Hill, Menindee Lakes, Mungo National Park, Mildura, Echuca, Lakes Entrance, Merimbula, Canberra and back to Sydney earlier this year in a 2008 Fender
We used 444lt of fuel at an average of 11.22lt per 100km. (loaded for touring)

Maybe your fuel consumption will drop as you put a few more km on.

W can get 11 from ours.....
We were getting 15 pulling a tons worth of trailer off road....
The engine will be pretty tight as its new economy does improves as the engine loosens up.
Also what fuel are you using I know that some people have seen diffences between using different brand deisels. It will also depend on how you drive.
There can also be other factors such as dragging hand brake etc.... What I would suggest is to watch the car closely over the next couple of tanks making sure you note your economy and if it doesn't improve alert your dealer because getting high 14s is not typical.
Fuel economy over a single tank of fuel will also be prone to errors, much better to average over multiple tankfulls.

My rig is the 2.4 2011.
I have to find some fuel receipts to clarify how much/many liters I generally put in, but I think it's around the 60-65lt mark (?)
When we picked ours up, we were gettin just on 600k's per tank (till the light came on). It got a little better, just over 600k's, but then the roof rack went on, and the RTT and it plumitted to around 500k's, then put the 31's on which didn't seem to make any difference, but with the engine loosening up, I get just over the 500 mark.
Running up to Albury and pushing it, we're lucky to 450. One thing that does seem to make a difference too, is fuel used. I run Shell Extra which is ok, if I run BP fuel, I get less than normal.
Does anyone have any other input on fuel types.
Having said all that, I don't really care what my consumption is, having come out of a V8, I'm better off by a lot :D
We use BP but have notice a better run from callex at times
