110 Double Cab tail gate hinges ?

    G'day All,
I'm designing a rear swing away wheel carrier to suit 110 Double Cabs with the drop down tail gate.

Could someone kindly measure the distance the tail gate hinge sticks out from the face of the chassis and let me know so I can make sure there is enough clearance to the carrier arm.
This is a pic of a series hinge, just to show what I need to know. I reckon it will be the same measurement on the 110, but I need to be sure............

The 110 will have bolt on hinges like this..........

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers, Murray

Looking forward to seeing how it comes together. I would imagine it could also fit a series 3 tail gate with minimal mods.

    Regards Warrick.

    Thanks mate,
The series hinge was about 42mm. I thought they would be pretty close.

The series rear chassis is completely different to the Defender, so it would require a different mounting bracket, but I might be able to use the same swing arm design on both. We'll see how things work out.

G'day Murray, I'm over at Melrose, don't have a tape measure but Dawsey's measure looks pretty right.
As you know I have the packers under mine to bring it out, when I get home (late next weekend) I'll measure it up and clarify what I have.
And at this point,, working well

    G'day Marcus,
One day I'll catch up with you and check out what you ended up building.
I've had a couple of requests for wheel carriers to suit the 110 Double Cab, so I thought I better draw something up for the laser cutters.

    Cheers, Murray

The tail gate hinge bracket is in a difficult position as far as designing a wheel carrier bracket. I want to try and integrate the hinge bracket into the carrier if I can.
It would be a great help if someone can take the following measurements of the hinge bracket for me.

A - Bottom of bracket to centre of hole
B - Overall width of bracket at the bottom
C - Thickness of bracket at the top
D - Face of chassis to centre of hole
E - Bottom of bracket to centre of bottom hole
F - Side of bracket to centre of hole
G - Diameter of top hole, or diameter of the pin which goes through the hole.

Any help much appreciated. I don't have a spare 110 Double Cab Defender sitting around the workshop to take the measurements myself
