Do you have to cut the sun visors down at the ends to fit the Outback console?
I looked at this mob mostly because you don't need to modify sun visors or anything else for that matter.
Car Consoles & 4WD Storage Drawers - Department of the Interior - overhead consoles, roof consoles, custom built consoles, 4WD interiors, storage systems, vehicle consoles, radio console, dashboard pod, four wheel drive.
They are in Sydney, but they mail all over the country (I think they supply through Opposite Lock as well).
The only reason I've not taken the plunge yet is that my 2 way is a GME TX3540 that doesn't need the head unit showing as all the controls are on the hand set.
I personally like the Outback as well, but I prefer having options where I can return to standard if I change my mind or grow tired of an upgrade/ accessory.
Cheers,
Lou
We stock the Terrafirma ones, which are a good product too. would be Interested to see what people think of both these brands.

Do any of those shown so far work for Landies with the ribs on the outside of the roof?
Hi Lou, I looked at those at the time I was buying a roof console but dismissed them because they looked a bit home made to me. The Outback & terrafirma consoles seemed to have more of a factory-fitted look to me.
The outback console will leave two traces behind when you de-install it. Firstly, two 3mm holes in the roof lining (which outback thoughtfully provide you with some small plugs for) and secondly the most noticable would be shortened visors. I also considered removal before installing the console and my assessment of this was that the traces it would leave behind were acceptable and the professional look of the outback console won out.
There's a good chance that the outback console would, although it may need a little bit of trimming. I expect that Outback have one console and they just trim it to match the roof profile of each different vehicle (Toyota, Nissan Land Rover etc) that they sell it for. That probably wouldn't be a problem and the console has a rubber strip around the top of the console that would provide a neat job.
Yep - I "re-shaped" the roof contour of an Outback console when I removed the console from a SWB Nissan GQ and then fitted into a GU Cab chassis ute. The rubber strip just pulls off and you trim the plastic to suit and then refit the rubber. (The hard part was shortening the drop down "shelf/cupboard", but managed it).
Do the Terrafirma ones require trimming the sun visor too? (I'm guessing yes, because it looks wide near the windscreen like the Outback one and the photo has the visors removed). The Terrafirma ones look good from the photo's and the catalogue. Having had the Outback one for a few years previously, I could probably provide you the feedback you're looking for.Quote:

Juddy,
I'd be keen on the interface with the visors as well as I'm reluctant to alter the originals (maybe I can find spares at the wreckers?).
Might end up taking you up on the postage offer we chatted about earlier in the week!:D
Cheers,
Lou
Does someone have a pic of the cutting of the visors, I'm not keen to do this at all, thus the link that Lou put up for the Dept of Interior, is looking to be a good option.
Another alternative maybe, is there a visor that would fit which is hinged in the corners only to allow for use on the side windows,, one of my biggest issues is the low sun coming in the side window  This mod I would like to do with or without the consol.
