Shipping $100? These guys dont use Auspost. i had a whole tow bar shipped from the UK for under $100. Austpost are the biggest rip offs in the world.

Aus retails dont just get screwed with GST and the like from goverment charges but they get screwed again with freight.

I'm in Darwin now and even in Canberra, it costs about a quarter the cost to get things sent from OS then it does from Sydney.

Thing is the stuff still arrives in Sydney and gets delivered to me by Auspost. WTF.

Parel tracking is another thing. From OS you get a couple of updates per day. The time it's picked up, the time it reaches the Depot, the time it leaves the Depot, what plane it's on etc. Then it hits Aus and disappears until it hits your door.

    AUSPOST, YOU SUCK.

Buy OS. AUS retailers, tell your goverment, not me. I'd love to buy from you but I cant afford you.

    Happy Days.

I generally don't like roof bars, but that one actually looks good.
    goingbush,

I've seen a roof bar like that at Rovacraft here in Perth. If they stock it its most probably Britpart, Allmakes 4X4 or Terrafirma and all the branches nationwide should stock it.

    Cheers,

    Who determines the cost?

For example if an item is worth $1100, but i have purchased it at a discount so i paid, say, $800 for it?

The retailer puts the invoice cost on the shipment including postage if this is more than $1000 you get to make a donation to the Gov if under $1000 including postage you win

Not quite correct. If the goods value is less than $1000 then no donation to the W.Swan fighting fund is necessary. If the value of your goods exceeds $1000 then your donation is based on the value of the goods plus the shipping cost.

The GST is also paid on the Duty which is another 5% of the goods value and you will also be hit with some "other charges" to cover the handling or whatever. I would have thought that taxes should also cover the cost of collecting them but aparently not.

Depends whether they choose to collect the duty etc.
I've bought things in that have been around the $1400 mark and have not had to pay duty/GST etc, Christmas seems to be a good time to buy from O/S (maybe too busy)
