Just went through this the other day - Switch replacement by the sounds of it!
Things I learnt:-
2008 Defender 110
1. Genuine part from the Dealer = 2nd mortgage (seriously how do they justify almost $500 for a switch!)
so ring around or look on the net if you are not in a hurry.
2. to remove the shroud, you need to remove the steering wheel
3. Watch out for differing screws holding the shroud together - I had 4 X phillips head (2 front & 2 at the back) & 2 X Torx heads in the middle - I think that's so when you do these things in low light as we invariably do, you waste time wondering why the screwdriver wont engage!
4. once you have the screws out of the shroud, you still need to jiggle the shroud around to get it off - (take out the rubber mat from the shelf under the steering wheel 1st)
I hope this helps.
good luck

Sometimes having an older 200tdi is worth it. 5 bolts and it all comes apart with the steering wheel still fitted :)

If you have a weekend spare it's pretty easy to upgrade with a headlight relay. Either buy the kit from Traxide or make one up yourself. Here's what I did.
