Puma 2.2 Water Temp & Ultra Gauge

Going by what you have all posted, my vehicle reaching 98 degrees without any load is certainly abnormal considering ambient temps below 20 degrees....

The fluctuations seem very rapid compared to the old truck, and to clarify the new 110 is plated 2012, but has the dual finish alloys and alpine stereo, which I was of the opinion meant it was the "newer" model.

Im just not sure where to go from here. Any advice, or more readings from other users would be greatly appreciated.

What is a ultra gauge. Where can I get one or some info on them. Sorry for the hijack.

Yes certainly a great bit of kit! Only thing I would like to see added is oil temp/pressure. Otherwise its very comprehensive.

Finally added coolant tempt (!) to my ultra gauge...

I didn't get a chance to open it up (hwy speeds) but just tootling around town in 3rd/4th I was seeing 90C (flat) to 97C (up hill) yesterday on a 16C day. It fluctuates pretty quickly too.

So looks like I am also running a little on the high side.

MY13 90 (...compliance plated Oct 12 build date).

Mine is being 'investigated' today - I will let you know what the dealers find.

Well I got the truck back from warranty for the leaks. They "tested" the cooling system too and could only reach about 94 degrees and said this was well withing normal operating range.

They reckon they tested the cooling system with the Ultra Gauge plugged in at the same time... Unless they put in their own temp probe independent of the stock water sensor, Im not sure how it is even possible to test while the ultragauge is occupying the OBD plug.

The result was their diagnostic tool reading 94 degrees and the ultragauge sounding the alarm at 98 degrees at the same time.... or so they tell me. And if this was the case, would it not be safe to assume the sensor is faulty? At the end of the day, the ultragauge is simply reading what the sensor is putting out...The dealer said to check the ultragauge, and I will probably replace it with a new one anyway... I queried how they tested it, and they said on a hoist (???) and a road test... I have a hard time accepting the dealers diagnostic results.

At the very least, my concerns have been raised and now recorded, if damage from overheating occurs during the remainder of the warranty period, my bases are covered I suppose.

:eek: 60kmh in 6th? What are you trying to do? Kill the bearings faster than a light ray? or do you only have a left arm? A gear box is there to be used, if you dont want to/ cant.:angry: get an auto! At least that way your box and uni joints and diffs will live a little longer. Over heating will soon be the least of your worries. If it wasnt for all the electrickery engine management you would have a severe case of whiplash by now!:twisted:

Thanks Green, am I getting my wires crossed or did you say elsewhere that it failed the coolant pressure test? So they've fixed that (?) but you're still gettting higher than expected temps :confused:
