As said above I think from here on in the pulsing will probably improve once it beds in a bit. I had an Isuzu 110 ages ago and had a similar thing happen. By the time I sold it the 'pulsing' hadn't gone away completely but it was a lot better compared to when the brakes were first changed.
I'm not sure if this is the case with every car but I guess it depends on how much effort goes into refitting :)

I had MR Auto replace the rear drums on my County V8 back in March.
I also had the pedal pulsating.
Mine has improved a lot and certainly doesn't pulsate every time but once in a while it vibrates so badly the windows rattle.

As indicate, the pulsating will be caused by the working surface of the drum being out of round. As well as the suggestions above, it could be caused by dirt or a machining burr between the face of the hub and the drum.
It is also possible that the hub is not turning true, due to a wheelbearing installed with dirt or a burr behind it,fitted with retaining compound because it was loose, or which is failing. This could be checked by using a dial gauge or even just a pointer. The old drum would have worn to compensate for the problem.
