I got stuck in said Nolans Brook and had water upto 1" below the top of the seat box. You can't always rely on a bow wave.
I sealed the drivers side seat box with silicone I found in the shed and it stayed dry inside. I didn't seal the passenger side fully as it has breathers for the batteries.
A good way to find the gaps is park in a dark spot, and place a light underneath your truck. Remove plastic cover below.
The light comes thru all the openings.

I understand that the TPS is in most cases the lowest sensitive point however I would suggest (and only thinking aloud) that if this was damaged due to water ingress it would be no where near as catastrophic as the contents of the under seat box being damaged by water......
Yes it would possibly stop motion but is the TPS easily replaceable or removable to dry out?

I put an extra door seal on all my doors 8mm sticky back D rubber from Clark rubber. So I have rubber against rubber similar to my patrol I used to have. Had to use silicon spray on the rubbers to stop the rubber seeking against each other. Not quite waterproof but pretty good been up to 800mm river crossings
