If you had a new 90 coming....

What would you consider your first ports of call in regards to mods and accessories?

What do you consider absolutely necessary, and what have you done that has given you the most joy?

First up I am considering the bulkhead mod and seat rail extensions for extra foot room. Im 6'1 so figure that will be vital.

What would be on your list?

    James.

Where do you live? How much have you got to spend? If you are near Sydney drop in and see Daniel (Mulgo) at Buy 4x4 Land Rover Toyota Nissan Accessories and Parts Online | Web Store | Expedition Centre Australia by Mulgo He sells the seat rail extensions which I can recommend. My mods include - X box from Mulgo, Tubular bar from Mulgo, Dual battery system from Mulgo, Steering guard from Mulgo, ARB Compressor, Wind cheater rack from Mulgo, Twin Tanks from Mulgo, Rear jerry and spare carrier from Rijidij, Pioneer stereo and subwoofer, 80 Ch CB, Soundproofing from Jaycar, Towbar LR, Spootties LR, Snorkel LR, Nugget snorkel connector, Internal restraint net from Mulgo.
The only things left to get is a good winch, and a Autron cruise control. It's hard to say which is the best mod. I love the stereo. I love the roof rack. I love the jerry carrier. Start with the seat rails though. They will make it much more comfortable.

This is what i have done to my 90 since January 2012. I no particular order. I bought a Redarc BCDC1220 battery controller/charger and a then ordered a dual battery tray from Devon 4x4 and fitted an Optima red top (start) and an optima yellow top (aux). I have also fitted a dual jerry can holder from Rijidij (forum member). I got fitted an ARB bull bar and a set of IPF spot lights and also fitted some rear drawers from Front runner and then just screwed some tie downs on top of the drawers to hold the fridge down. I fitted an 80 channel radio, new stereo and also hard wired the air compressor in.

But to answer your question the best thing i have done by far is the dual battery setup. I can run the fridge for weeks on end with only a short 15 minute drive to and from work.

Puma 90's don't have bulkheads behind the front row seats, so a little confused about the mod you're referring to?

My first stop would in any case be Daniel at Mulgo.

    1. The seat rails are an absolute joy and IMO the best on the market.
    2. The gas strut for the rear door is such and improvement on the operation of the door, I can't believe I've not done it years ago!
    3. Diff guard on the front. Nor sure what terrain you'll encounter, but mine's had some serious work...
    4. I'm personally an advocate for frontal protection and some suitable bar work is a must. The OEM bumper is reasonably soft and easy to bend in a gentle off road slide.
    5. 2 way radio if you plan to go on runs with your local AULRO group.

I'd steer clear of any suspension, drivetrain and engine mods for at least the first three years. Not everybody's view, just my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Lou

Do something about the inadequate fuel tank. It's way too small and is the only thing that bothers me.

    My 90,s first mod!

Fuel tank - filling up every second day gets painful fast. Mulgo aux tank worked well for me.

I'm 6 1'' or 6 2'', so one of the 1st things I did was the seat rails, used some old steel tube, I think it was 20 or 25mm.

Made a big Improvement on the seats being able to go back further, was a bit of time faffing around making them but cost sod all.

If I was too do it againI would probably buy MULGO'S or Mudstuff.co.uk Mudrails, either way good.
Do it, it will make a difference to you, for the better.....

All the 90 owners who I've done work for have been disappointed in the standard fuel capacity.

If you go with an extra tank (or two), Mulgo also do a mod to the standard filler neck so you don't have to cut holes in your panels. You can fill one, two or three tanks all from the original position.

    Definitely fit seat rails too.

    Mulgo filler mod

Of course the other option for carrying extra fuel is a jerry can holder on the back

Rijidij Off Road dual rear bar

    So may things I need!

Thanks for the advice on the bulk head. Im glad not to have to screw around with removing that. Im sure that would have become apparent as soon as I got to have a look at it in the flesh.

Ill be buying the seat rails in advance.

From the LR dealer I have ordered these with the car:- Snorkel, expedition roof rack, rear ladder, bull bar, tow bar, driving lights.. I think thats all but I might have missed something.

High on my list is fuel tanks and canvas seat covers.

Thanks again guys. Appreciate the direction.
