Thread: Upgrading the rear seats

Not sure if it would help much, but when I was getting sheepskin seat covers for the front, I noticed the kids seats were horribly hard - basically just about 3mm of crap foam over hard plastic. I got sheepskin covers made for them also, and they were surprisingly good at adding comfort. Maybe worth a try, rather than swapping the whole seat?

Hi weeds , When we take our grand kids with us on trips , we always put a couple of pillows in the back , also we brought two of those dvd 's that fit on the head rests , that helps keep them quiet . I just brought and fitted some of those folding drink holders as well , they screwed onto the back of the centre box jimr1

That's a fair call , now I understand 3 teenagers , for 4 weeks travelling in the back of a Defender . Those seats are not designed for that , I'd be looking for something better as well ,good luck . Have a great trip ,jimr1

Maybe its just my worn out body,but i find the back seats in my deefer no worse than my d2 rears that everyone says are hard.As for fronts we went from maryborough to the daintree and back a few years ago and had no problem with deefer fronts.Mind you my l322 seats are much better.

I have the county rear seat but it has been recovered with thicker foam. It would not be hard to do. If it is just for a trip you could make a foam sandwich and place it under a generic cover to hold it down.

I'm going to attempt to fit up a Disco 2 rear set with the 60/40 split into the back of my 97 130. Will post up with some pics on initial fitment. If it fits between the doors, then its perfect. You can basically do anything with the brackets
