You could try the interco SSR-41R.
35 x 10.5 radial fairly aggressive mud. Works well for me !
They are good on the road as well....

I think there is also an 8.25R16 or 8.5R16 size tyre out there, likewise a 9R16 depending on how big you want to go.

I would love to get my hands on some old Michelin XCL or XZL in 8.25R16 (34 inch tall) but alas long discontinued. The 900R16 or metric 255/100R16 are about $750/tyre and are super heavy construction. Not really great for our LRs even though they were fitted to some in the military....

FWIW, I believe that size and up use steel belted sidewalls

In my book, 750 x 16's are tall and skinny! You can get them in a chevron tractor pattern!! Serious muddy... Be hairy on the road tho!!! We used to run something called a Firestone SAT's when trailing in the UK. They were the tyre to have before Mud Terrains and Grabbers came out....

the SAT were the standard by all accounts, the Darien Gap RR apparently ran some in a large size than 750/16.

750/16 is a great size that suits many needs BUT unfortunately all the current day majority of 4x4 owners are running 33-35 on DD and tourers, so the ruts are now to deep for the easy tracks when on 750/16 or 235/85...

I thought all the michelin truck/4x4 tyres have steel belted sidewalls. I know the 7.50x16 XCLs and XZL(?)s fitted OEM to defenders both do.

AFAIK the 7.50/16 XZL's don't, or at least the ones I had didn't.

The steel belted sidewall versions only have something like a 120km/h or lower speed rating.
