Puma Black Smoke - Normal?
Hi All,
I have noticed recently (last ~1000kms) that my 2011 Puma is making more black smoke than I remember it used too. If I am going up a hill or taking off somewhat quickly, the smoke is easily visible in the side mirror.
However...
+ I still average about 10.5L/100KM.
+ Makes plenty of power, still fly up hills - Gotta Love 6th Gear!
+ There are no odd noises.
+ Has no engine error codes.
I am booked in for a service soon [40,000 - I am on 42,000 atm, oops], should I be getting LR to look at something in particular?
Could this be an EGR related problem?
Do they all make a decent amount of smoke and I haven't noticed before?
I fitted an Ultraguage recently, and have noticed the EGR % is pretty well the inverse of the throttle position. I.E. at idle, the EGR is almost at 100%. When at 40% Throttle, the EGR is at 60%. Don't know if this helps.
Thanks,
Scott

Probably a hole/tear in the turbo hose?
Mine has never put out any black smoke, whether on the OEM or BAS map
