I think we all know what a diff looks like!!!

So that's it! Telstra 130 - what does the EC mean?

The question still stands - although a little different now.
The P38A diff looks identical to the RRC and D1/2 diff but with 4 diff gears instead of 2 - is there any other differences? Are other internal parts swappable?

The Rover and P38A type diffs look similar but are in reality completely different. For starters the pinion is much shorter on the P38 type.

AFAIK almost all parts are different apart from a few minor items like bolts and flanges.

OK, then can I bolt in a D2 diff if they interchangeable inside the same axle housing as regards bolt in pattern, axle shaft splines - the prop shaft can easily be shortened.
Or I could replace the P38A diff with a spare MaxiDrive RRC diff assembly that is lying in the back of my shed.

No , you only think you know what a diff looks like! Otherwise you would know what can be swapped over and what cannot. "EC" stands for Extra Cab, and as Rick says DO a search, there is quite a few posts that will enlighten you about them, maybe.

I certainly know what the difference is between the looks of a Rover diff and a Salisbury diff and have done so for over 40 years since I last played around with old LandRovers so don't need you lecturing me on that , thank you anyway!
I don't know what parts swapping has to do with looks? - but you obviously do and can't be bothered to tell me so I am no wiser - thanks for nothing!
Searching - I wonder how I search for that??
Thanks for the EC explanation - industry standard acronym for extra cab is XC and not EC so that had me stumped - I had guessed at extra capacity compared to HC (high capacity).
