Hi All,
Just had my clutch master cylinder replaced by a reputable land rover mechanic and when I got it back, there wasn't any free play in the clutch pedal. Didn't think too much of it, but today as I was driving, the clutch started slipping under high load. Cruising along gently is fine, but when I need to use a bit of throttle (quite common in a 300tdi 130) the clutch slips.
This immediately tripped me off to thinking about the master cylinder free play adjustment so popped the cover off the master cylinder and had a look.
I wanted to move the lock nuts back towards the firewall, but couldn't budge them with a spanner and thought it was strange to have 2 nuts on the firewall side of the trunnion.
Anyway, took a happy snap. Can anyone tell me if this set up is unusual? Want to take it back to the mechanic and get him to fix it up.
Appreciate any help you guys and gals can give.

There is about 1 thread's worth of thread exposed on the firewall side. I tried to move just the nut closest to the firewall further towards the firewall (this should loosen it from the other locknut right?) but couldn't even budge it.

SupporterSee SteveG's response in this thread RE new master cylinder and thread length on the push rod. Sounds like he had a similar problem to you.

if you grab the rod in the pedal box there should a very slight amount of play just noticeable good luck
