If you cut out the cat and fit a decat pipe then you can sell the cat for scrap (Platinum) to offset the cost of the decat pipe ( I got £70 scrap value for mine).
I have the full Alive SS exhaust system fitted to my Puma with a single cherry bomb silencer, a stage 2 remap and larger intercooler all from Alive tuning and the Puma runs cooler and doesn't surge at all??

My 2008 130 does not have the catalytic convertor- I assume it was removed by the previous owner- and I have not noticed any surging problem. The floor sure gets hot though.
