met a bloke in Cooma who drove a Jap twin cab 4x4. Both sides of his car looked like it had been through a smash up derby. Not one straight panel on it anywhere. Quite astounding how they just hop into the side of the car. He ran a steel bar which looked intact, cant recall who's make.

What do you all do with the injured animals?

make sure they are actually deceased, and check for joeys. have seen a heatbreaking sight of a dead female roo and about 50 metres further down the road, its youngun

We hit a big red in WA that was hit in the forrests near The Lakes at night during practice, all but peeled the side off the rally car. had to walk around in the dust and dark to find him to check, and then put him to sleep. Always carry something that will do the task quickly, obviously firearms are out of the question so a fossicking pick was best practice

I'd say a fairly minor repair.

The bonnet and firewall looked unmarked.

It's not that hard to fit a guard. You could get one from a wrecked TD5 and fit yourself in a day. About trickiest part is removing & refitting the eyebrow. And that's not hard really.

Whenever my car has had to go in for repairs it seems that I am always waiting on parts arriving from the UK.. That indicates to me that there isn't a magic Defender shop here anywhere that stocks some of the less used parts..

I feel for you, Gillie. I had to wait a month for the bullbar I ordered with my then new Td5, and had roo damage in that time.

Just to show the value of some frontal protection, I hit a full grown male roo at around 100kph 3 months ago. Shuddering impact, but no significant damage & the slight bend in the bar could be pressed out pretty well.
