Woops... nice smartarse comment from me eariler in this thread when I asked why it wasn't just driven I didn't spot the coolant leak.

I'm quite surprised anyone that travels doesn't carry that two part ribbon repair ribbon in there glovebox. One of these:

Permatex GAS Tank Radiator Repair 28G | eBay

My experiance with it is it'll fix a leaky/bent radiator better than soldering will. As a "temporary fix" just to get home, I've had it last years on radiators before I got around to fixing them properly

Did someone say writeoff ?? Surely the damage there could be fixed given a weekends tinkering in the shed to straighten out and paint the guard, new grill, chuck the bumper and fit a heavy duty 'roo bar.

    seeya,
    Shane L.

I've been unfortunate enough to have hit a couple of the smaller ones (+/- 140cm) you get around the northern Pilbara and I'd imagine similar damage without the bulbar.

I can't comment on the other species of kangaroo, but these will set off in any direction without a moment's hesitation. Combine that with the proximity of the scrub next to the road in those parts of the country and you have no chance what so ever, no matter what time of the day (although dusk is usually the most "dangerous" time).

The last one I hit at 110km/h without a split second's chance to touch the brakes. He was going so fast from left to right that he actually hit the bulbar in front of me sitting in the drivers seat. Luckily I seem to have hit him on his "landing and squatting" phase of his jump as the top of the vertical part of the bulbar took the brunt of his scull (and what used to be inside) and then the steering guard "fed" him down under the front axle without doing any damage.

Gillie, hope the damage looks worse than it actually is and you've got her back on the road soon.

Buy a proper bulbar and avoid the cosmetic tubular jobbies if at all possible…

    Cheers,

    Lou

Unlucky! Those little buggers are usually a bit sharper than that.

I can believe they want to write it off. My 110 was rolled onto it's side doing not much damage (or so I thought) A secondhand windscreen and surround, new passenger door, and a bit of minor panel work later and all good.
I was quoted $20k by panel beaters, it cost me about $1500. It's still a bit crinkley in places, but what the hey?

Why are YOU carrying a comb, plastic or otherwise??? Something sus about that, if you ask me.

And while we are talking about electronic noise makers, I have 120 decibels of fire appliance siren sitting in the shed.

Have sat in a mob of roos with the sirens going full noise, add the horn etc, and I swear, if they could, they would raise a middle finger at you.

I was about to get someone to turn a hose on them, but instead we went low tech. Someone got off the truck, and waved his arms at them. Worked a treat.

I had a big Sambar stag walk out in front of me in the Pumper and hit the lights and siren. He didn't hang around long!

I do a lot of night time/early morning driving and am forever on the lookout for kangaroos (and bigger creatures!) and having hit a few skippies in the past I feel your pain

With any luck it will be mended and motoring before long

Dropped into the smash repairs today. He is finding it difficult to find parts for it. trying to find panels and grills and surrounds. obviously this is an insurance job so would be trying to source new parts. Any one got any ideas?
