    TD5 Over full sump.

    Hello,
Before anyone starts to say anything, yes I DID search the files to find an answer to my question, but I didn’t find anything.
    Problem, Over full sump.
My Guess: diesel diluting oil. Definitely no water.
Cause Cracked head, seals on injectors?
ALL oil changed every 10,000Kms. Motor is totally stock apart from EGR removed.
Never over filled, ever. What could be the cause? The current oil has done about 8000Kms.
Hopefully there is a foto of the dipstick, finger crossed.
    Thanks for the replies

"Usually" injector seals. I'd start there.

People do. I'd fix it sooner rather than later though. Damage will occur.

And possibility of engine runaway with that much diesel in your sump!
I wouldn't be driving it at all until injector seals were done.

Thanks for the advice. I am in Forster and need to drive back to wodonga. So I’ll drop the oil and put fresh in. Will that be sufficient for 3 days?

I would think so.... But don't quote me. Thing is, the oil will be diluted and thus less effective, and if it gets too full other problems happen. I would keep an eye on it over those three days.

Remember, it has probably been this way for at least a little while.

Generally, the first thing to "let go" will be the turbo, as undiluted oil to that is pretty important.

Definitely, as you say, change the oil, and keep an eye on it for the trip home.

The old method suggested by Rick 130 of the droplet on the business card works well ( rainbow around the droplet means diesel )

I got called in to see one at a local workshop last year that had 21 litres drained out of the sump without having a runaway, surprisingly.

It was a very clean engine.

Thanks to everyone for the replies!
The oil will be changed tomorrow, I would like to do the filters as well but it seems that there are none available here, but will ring around the shops in the morning just in case of the online store thing has it wrong.
A big thank you for the oil on the business card trick. I will try that in the morning, thats if we haven’t been blown away during the night.
    Thank you everyone!!
