I went with Ritters too, all recovery and protection gear supplied and fitted by them. Great service and they know their landrovers.
Don't worry about lifting, it is more than adequate.
You will need to replace your front springs due to extra weight. Got my done by LR to avoid warranty issues.
Now waiting for my tradesman roof rack.

You may consider reversing camera, it is not the easiest car to park. Bought one with HD ccd sony camera for $44 and fitted myself.

So some postulating about whether you 'need' a snorkel. Heres what I know getting one will only improve the rig. Not getting one limits you and the day you hit some water and hydro-lock your pride and joy (fluke or otherwise) because you didn't have one you'll be kicking yourself.
If you come up north in future you could find yourself stuck needing one without and you're just that: stuck.
If you think of it like a bullbar for your engine you're in the right mindset. No one expects or plans to drown their four by but it happens. Why not spend the extra 200 bucks?

Other than that sounds like you're getting an awesome deefer

I would get a full length Hannibal or similar rack.

My list:

rear e-locker + axles & flanges = $1600 for locker, $800 for axles/flanges, $400 labour: total $2,800

ARB winch bar = $1450 fitted or $1300 self fit

Winch = $750 ish.

5k on the nose.

The above package with the muddies you have will get up and down most tracks bar the extreme stuff and if you get into trouble you winch out.

When money comes in I'd fit 255/85 MT and if you want more traction fit a front ATB which will work well with the TC ($750 for ATB incl new journal bearings + $400 in labour).

I agree with the snorkel but I'd go the big ticket items from the 5k before small items like the snorkel. Big ticket items are harder to justify and sell to the wife so get them when the explanation is "it's not coming from the family budget". The reality is you will start with a pot of 5k but by no means finish when the 5k is exhausted. Not one person on this forum has bought a defender and left it untouched in standard format for their ownership. There is always customisation.

As for items like roof racks etc, better value to pick something up second hand. As for draws, live with the truck for a few trips and see what are your needs. You might find it works for you in standard trim or a low tech solution is all that is required.

If you go the locker make sure LR will honour the warranty. RVR110 (John) has a new Puma with lockers. I don't know the deal he struck with regards to warranty.

Wish mine still looked as good. But after many hard miles, a rollover, a couple of roo strikes (no bar work!), it's still the best, just not quite straight anymore

While you are right, keep in mind also that even driving through a river that is 500mm deep you get a bow wave, and up river is on the right, you are bouncing a little on rocks you will be getting splashes into the intake.

..and it only takes one person to dig a wheel hole that you drop your front wheel in and *gulp* water.

(While I don't have a puma) From what I've seen, sadly no. The air box itself doesn't seal - so even if you fit a snorkle you can drown it. Nugget's mod actually seals the airbox itself properly. You could do this yourself of course, but you may as well pick one up when you get your diff breather block ;)

As a rule, I don't like driving in water (it makes a mess and wrecks everything) but i've ended up having to drive through very deep water without much notice. I've had water half way up the windscreen (up to the bottom of the windows without the bow wave) and I wasn't floating. (with a 2" lift).

.. I took the kayak home :D
