Changing offset of Wolf rims

I've been wanting to get a measuring stick on all the LR rims to confirm exactly what is what and the part numbers that go along with them.

You are however correct that the ANR5593 have ta 20.6mm positive offset because that one is in the parts manuals.

We haven't touched upon the legal/engineering issues of changing the track by going from negative to positive.

I don't know whether it has changed over the years but the Vic regulations used to state that the track of a vehicle could be widened by no more than 50mm. This would mean that the 20.6mm offset of these rims could be decreased to -4.4mm and remain within the law. The legalities of modifying rims is another matter, I don't know what the story is there.

I have tubeless wolf rims marked with part no ANR4583. I also have late tubed 130 rims with part no ANR5593, with holes in the rim.

I wouldn't want a wider track as wolf rims throw quite a bit of mud up the side already.

Hi POD, how'd you go? Did you end up changing the offset of your wolf rims? I too have a set of six fitted with 255/85/16 tyres and they do indeed rub on full lock and just rub the rear spring mounts when off road. Am considering changing the offset too, be good to hear if it is worth the effort.

Diana, AFAIK the early 130s were ANR1534 rims. These are also 16x6.5 with 20.6+ offset, the same as the ANR5593 Tubed "Wolf" rims, however the centre disc of the 1534's have a much more pronounced dish than the Wolf type, so the profile of the rim section gives the appearance of Negative offset. The 5593 centre has a flatter shape and joins the rims section at a position closer to the centreline.


There is a possibility to be looked into of combining the centre disc of the ANR5593 wheel with the rim profile of the ANR1534 to achieve a negative offset wheel, but the change would be over an inch. ANR 1534 rims are tubed type, and have been made in both welded and riveted style.

I didn't go ahead with changing offset, when I put the 255/85 tyres on I found it was no real problem. The fronts do rub on the control arms at full lock, but the lock is still better than with the steering stops at the factory setting and the turning circle is acceptable. Haven't noticed any rubbing at all in the rear.

Thanks for that. The rubbing at rear on mine is only at full articulation and not by much, mabey my air bags (no springs) allow a bit more travel? I still think it would be good to change offset but admit it ends up costing a bit and the stuff around factor. Main advantage would to hopefully get a bit better steering lock.
