Tyre pressures monitors and Defender tyre pressures

I have a Tyre-Dog that is 3 years old.
The front and rear pressures can be set independently, and easily changed when off road.
It uses external sensors screwed on to the valves and as such the temp readings are worthless, but I would not be without now.

I completed the trip to Trim technology services who are the sub contractor to Land Rover for making tilts. This TPMS was great. My kids have asked "why are the pressures different from to back ? " This is an excellent way to prove to them how the pressures change when you get on down the road. Also any serous hub are issues that transmit enough heat, are going to show up in the tyres pressures too I think. Very handy - thanks Steve.

I didn't realise the temperature reading on the stem mount readers wasn't as good as the internal mounted readers, but I guess that makes sense...

Hopefully some shopping to come soon... ;)

OK new issue ! If one of the valve mounted readers becomes a little loose you can soon end up with a tyre 20% out of air. So the system for monitoring the problem becomes the problem. I think I was just nervous of wrecking the calibration of the little valve mounted gadgets.

Could some one address point 2, my way of thinking was reduce front by x% then reduce rear by x%, not absolutes, but I'm only guessing.

From memory you can set every tyre separately, you can also set a very low pressure when using it for offroad. I bought the 6-14 tyre pack so both my spares are covered and if I want I can purchase extra sensors for any trailers I might want to use it on.. (handy for cavanners and truckies)..

I just LOVE the system and honestly think it's one of my best purchases, it allows me to see the pressure and the temp of the tyres and for the piece of mind it gives me its worth every cent.

If you are looking at getting a system can I suggest getting one that has the sensors inside the tyre itself (attached to the rim) as I've heard of the ones that fit onto the valve being damaged when off road. :)

Hey Sue how does the system work when you drop the pressures for off road use? Is it easy to adjust or do you have to spend ages mucking around with it?

No it's really quick... I just adjust the min pressures (for when I want it to alarm) before I let the air out (otherwise it alarms while I am doing it).. It only takes a few seconds. :)
