That's the plan, no pub will go unsampled :)
At the LR experience day yesterday the word was some models will be available for order by Aus. until approx. March next year.MY15 will be the last of them,no MY16.
Production has been extended, but they didn't know exactly which models but thought it was the 110.
I read somewhere, that in the UK,and it will probably follow over here, when an air bag is deployed in a vehicle, emergency services will be notified immediately. This is from the beginning of 2016.If one is deployed accidentally, there is a number you can ring so they don't turn up.
Actually not a bad idea, they recon it will save a lot of lives.
The main thing that has killed off the Defender is it can't or won't be modified to be fitted with air bags.
December 20th 2015 has been officially quoted by JLR as the date that the "Last Defender to roll down the line",..(End of quote).
Some models are already no longer available in Aus.
Of course in Aus, with ordering/transport, getting the order to Solihull etc etc, our "final ordering date", for the models remaining, will be,....when?
Better start thinking about your order? Pickles.
NB:, But, in terms of the O.P's post, it still ain't gonna be no "investment",...not in monetary terms anyway, but that ain't the most important aspect,...IMHO anyway.
Anyone else bored of continual "when's it going to end" conjecture?
Remember there are posters talking about +60 year old vehicles in the series section so AULRO should still be going strong in 2075, I wonder how much a Keswick green Puma will be worth then;)
Also why isn't this post in the sticky?
The new and near new market of availabe Defenders in the country already tells me their wont be any investment potential any time soon. Go onto Carpoint and you'll see alot of great deals of cars available to pickup. There is even a 2013 model with 8000klm's on the clock which owes him $75k and he wants around $50k. Others who have owned them not even 12 months and already losing 10k with under 20000klm's on the clock.
Some great deals to be had at the moment, even brand new the asking price is a bargain.
Yes, Voltron is correct. There are some great deals around,...and they have been for ages, and continue to be.
If you're a serious buyer, have done your homework, and are prepared to sign, the deals are there.
I'd have to say though, that whilst not "investment value", that when the Dealers do have their final stock, and no-one can order anything anymore, then, IMHO, prices will firm up, and after that, when they are all sold, I would expect that any late model, low k Defender will hold its value pretty well.
Actually, it'll be interested to see what happens as "the time" gets closer.
I would suggest that there will undoubtedly be some unhappy buyers, who, for one reason or another, will miss out....and these are the buyers that will be looking at the late model vehicles I mentioned?
Pickles.
I just want mine to hurry up. Looked at a link the dealer sent me and I discovered that earlier today it was on board the Faust and just off the coast of Senegal and scheduled to arrive on Aug 29.
Please read fine print **MY16 DEFENDER NOT
