Yes, from uk they are legal over there, just not here. They have them in numerous stores, paddocks, mm, dls, heaps of others just shop around. Also some stock spacer/adaptors so you could go from LR 5 stud 165 pattern to the D2, 5 stud 120 or merc pattern or Japanese Patterns. It is cheaper than getting new wheels but as I said not legal here. In saying that I've had them on for over 2 years and over 40,000 kms no issues.Quote:

I have same attitude about insurance, as it helps stability by widening your track(you do notice going from normal +33 to 0 it feels more planted cornering)so the only thing that could be blamed for it to be the cause of an accident is if the wheel falls off, 40 nuts to ensure tight not 20,or it causes the bearings to fail. But if you fit 0 offset steel wheels your putting more strain on the bearings as they are heavier than factory boost alloys with aluminium/alloy spacer.
looked up a few, cant remember where I got mine but shop around as I found it may cost 10-20 pound more at one place but their postage is half the other price, so a cheaper total.

They seem to go from 90pound in uk - 155 pound($156-230 aussie) with one mob in Australia trying to charge $475, at that price it is to close to 5 new steel wheels.
I am ordering Kahn 18x8 wheels what is the widest size try I can fit on the rims with out modifying. And what should the new profile be to maintain the same circumference ?

Most manufacturers and the big online tyre shops have recommended sizes.
Tyre rack is pretty good as they list all the sizes for a brand recommended width rim and range, so BFG-mud Km2 in 285/70 r18 are recommended for your wheel size and equal 33.7 inches , legal on a defender. The bfg 305/60 r18 is 32.6 inches and recommends 8.5 min width but talk to a tyre shop as you may get away with that.
It also depends what is in stock in Australia as they don't bring all sizes here.

The paddock version i bought accommodated the HD flanges. The 110 had spacers from day dot. 70,000 kms with them and no problems. That said I did have accelerated bearing wear but that might have been as much my driving technique and the 255/85 muddies. i'd expect the accelerated wear with steel rims too.Quote:
